Perpendicular Diffusion of Energetic Particles: A Complete Analytical Theory

چکیده

Over the past two decades scientists have achieved a significant improvement of our understanding transport energetic particles across mean magnetic field. Due to test-particle simulations as well powerful non-linear analytical tools this type is almost complete. However, previously developed theories do not always agree perfectly with simulations. Therefore, correction factor $a^2$ was incorporated into such aim balance out inaccuracies. In paper new theory for perpendicular presented. This contains unified theory, most advanced date, in limit small Kubo number turbulence. For two-dimensional turbulence results are obtained. case describes diffusion process which sub-diffusive while follow field lines. Diffusion restored soon transverse complexity becomes important. long parallel free paths one finds that coefficient reduced line random walk limit. short paths, on other hand, gets hybrid mixture collisionless Rechester & Rosenbluth and fluid limits. Overall current agreement heuristic arguments. Furthermore, agrees performed without need aforementioned or any parameter.

Analytical theory of forced rotating sheared turbulence: the perpendicular case.

Rotation and shear flows are ubiquitous features of many astrophysical and geophysical bodies. To understand their origin and effect on turbulent transport in these systems, we consider a forced turbulence and investigate the combined effect of rotation and shear flow on the turbulence properties. Specifically, we study how rotation and flow shear influence the generation of shear flow (e.g., t...

Perpendicular diffusion of a dilute beam of charged dust particles in a strongly coupled dusty plasma

The diffusion of projectiles drifting through a target of strongly coupled dusty plasma is investigated in a simulation. A projectile’s drift is driven by a constant force F. We characterize the random walk of the projectiles in the direction perpendicular to their drift. The perpendicular diffusion coefficient Dp? is obtained from the simulation data. The force dependence of Dp? is found to be...

Meteor trail diffusion: 2. Analytical theory

A meteoroid penetrating the Earth’s atmosphere leaves behind a trail of dense plasma embedded in the lower E/upper D region ionosphere. While radar measurements of meteor trail evolution have been collected and used to infer meteor and atmospheric properties since the 1950s, no accurate quantitative model of trail fields and diffusion exists. This paper describes a 2-D analytical theory of mete...

Analytical theory of polymer-network-mediated interaction between colloidal particles.

Nanostructured materials based on colloidal particles embedded in a polymer network are used in a variety of applications ranging from nanocomposite rubbers to organic-inorganic hybrid solar cells. Further, polymer-network-mediated colloidal interactions are highly relevant to biological studies whereby polymer hydrogels are commonly employed to probe the mechanical response of living cells, wh...
